Cross Counter Asia and Mad Catz were in Singapore for the Singapore Toy, Game, and Comic Convention, and Zhi (@zhieeep) filed this report:

Singapore Toy, Game, and Comic Convention (Sept. 1st-2nd) has pulled off another successful event this year, and with great satisfaction we snuck into the beautiful exhibition hall at Singapore’s premier 5-star Marina Bay Sands Hotel with our shiny new media passes. Upon entry, we made a beeline straight to the Namco Bandai Singapore booth in anticipation for the latest developer’s build of Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Anticipating a game only 80% complete, we were delighted to find that Namco had actual retail copies of the game running on 4 consoles complete with tournament grade FightSticks, headsets, and monitors, EVO style!
On day one, the Namco booth featured SOULCALIBUR V and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 tournaments, with the grand prize winners receiving a brand new console and Premier Edition of the respective game. Knowing that the local scene was too strong to vie for the grand prize, we rolled the die for Day 2′s challenge, “Beat a Troll,” for a limited edition Tekken Tag Tournament 2 hoody. Even then we failed miserably, but it was fantastic incentive to pre-order the game and hop into training mode as soon as possible.
After picking up a pocketful of anime trinkets and begging cosplay goddesses for their pictures, we finally reached the massive SGEsports video game pit stop, running simultaneous tourneys for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition ver. 2012 (5v5 format), Persona 4 Arena, and FIFA 12. Sharing space at the SGEsports booth was Nescafe, giving free cups of coffee to weary gamers and attendees lugging around anime loot all day.
DM | MCZ Xian took first place in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and walked home with a Street Fighter x Tekken Arcade FightStick V.S. Edition! He has won so many sticks this year that he can play joystick Jenga with all the boxes. The 5-person Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition winners included female Chun-Li player Yvonne, and her four White Knights that protected her valiantly through the grand finals. Each player received a Street Fighter x Tekken FightStick PRO, with the second place winners receiving TRITTON Detonator headsets to drown out all the din and focus on the game.
Check out the pictures below, and we look forward to seeing you at next year’s event. We promise to be in costume!
