 Financial Analyst
location: San Diego, CA, USA

Mad Catz, Inc. is a leading, worldwide manufacturer, distributor and marketer of innovative accessories for Sony’s PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PSP; Microsoft’s Xbox and Xbox 360; Nintendo’s GameCube, Wii, DS, DSLite and the upcoming DSi. We are looking for energetic, outgoing professionals who value teamwork, creativity and a casual work environment.

The Financial Analyst is responsible to assist with sales and market analysis while maintaining reports and reporting structure. Assist with budgetary process in an accurate and timely manner. Assist both finance and product development departments with launch management and reporting duties.

Responsibilities

Sales, Market and Operations Analysis
  • Assist in preparing market analysis reports using both internal and external sources
    • Coordinate with North American & European teams to ensure correct data capture and reporting
  • Data Maintenance of NPD – Data integrity, centralization / storage, and normalizing
  • Reporting – Assist with the output (spreadsheets, presentations, analysis tools) of trends, top 10, market share, share of shelf, price banding, ROI and other necessary metrics to support strategic planning activities and product management.
  • Assist in tracking new product performance (budget vs. actual)
  • Assist in maintaining database for running royalty sales reports and royalty calculations
  • Primary Research – support as needed via data analysis and reporting
Opportunity Analysis
  • Assist in product planning and gate analysis/support
    • Market and trend analysis
    • Quantify opportunity and risks
    • Competitor / Competitive product analysis
    • Opportunity analysis (pre and post)
Budget Reporting & Preparation
  • Assist in preparing sales & capex budgetary reports
  • Assist with running of monthly budget v actual reports for all departments and entities
  • Assist with quarterly re-forecasting
  • Assist with Budget versus Actual reporting along with variance analysis
Launch Management
  • Assist in Operations Support - maintain launch planners, ROI analysis, North American pricing, product setup information
  • Control GLD (Global Launch Document) release and ensure consistent data entry
  • Assist with licensor marketing programs and planning
  • Licensor contract marketing support (sample requests and contract enforcement for marketing activities)
  • UPC master list maintenance

Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting or Statistics or significant related coursework
  • Direct from college or 1-3 years hands-on financial analysis experience
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and other database management and analysis software
  • Takes pride in accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong research skills and inquisitive mind-set
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized with a methodical and logical approach to work
  • Motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic, capable of working within cross disciplinary teams
  • Great Plains / Crystal / business analysis experience a plus Interest in video-gaming, interactive entertainment and/or consumer electronics also a plus

VP, Online Media and E-commerce

The Vice President of Online Media and E-commerce is responsible for the strategic direction and overall management of global online media, web marketing, and e-commerce. This position serves as the evangelizer, innovator, general manager, and hands-on leader of the digital channel. A key component will be to build communities, drive traffic and ultimately sales growth through effective digital media tools and strategic partnerships to achieve corporate objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Reposition the GameShark.com website into a profitable PC/videogame content site, including growth of online advertising and other revenue streams
  • Oversee and grow profitability of the Store.GameShark.com web stores, with emphasis on broadening the sites into leading PC/videogames-focused accessories web stores in addition to serving as a major e-commerce channel for Mad Catz group products
  • Develop web communities to support brands, develop for user experience, online functionality and infrastructure needs, including partnerships with and use of appropriate technologies.
  • Manage direct team of 4 and partner with community evangelists
  • Ensure the day-to-day effectiveness of websites: navigation, search functionality, branding, content, and product presentation and manage corporate sites
  • Oversee hosting and infrastructure
  • Own the global Mad Catz group online P&L

Qualifications

  • Experience building a profitable online consumer business
  • Bachelors Degree in related field (MBA is highly preferred)
  • 10+ years of Strategic Marketing with a focus on web and digital media
  • Experience in developing online communities and marketing programs - online advertising, email and viral marketing, social network marketing, blogging, PR, etc.
  • Working experience in national and international brand and product marketing
  • Ability to start new enterprises and recognize new online business opportunities
  • Outstanding interpersonal/communications (oral and written) and analytical skills, with demonstrated leadership skills
  • Experience in building effective and productive working relationships across teams and organizational boundaries.
  • Passion for video games, energetic and highly motivated to help a company win in a very competitive, dynamic and fast-paced environment

 Industrial Designer – 3D
location: San Diego, CA, USA

 The Industrial Designer is the company’s product design expert. The position is responsible for driving innovative design with a goal of creating competitive advantage for Mad Catz through design. The role has an emphasis of bringing 2D design into the 3D realm for self generated concepts as well as from other ID resources. To achieve these goals the Industrial Designer works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Creative Services.

Responsibilities

  • Aesthetic and ergonomic design of new products including:
  • 3D surface modeling and prototyping
  • 2D concept generation, exploration and evaluation
  • Initiate concept design and champion innovative products to team members
  • Define color pallets for new products and updates to existing products
  • Partner with product development and product marketing on:
  • Competitive product reviews
  • Market trends
  • Product definition – Aesthetics, functionality, ergonomics, usability.
  • Design support for Product Requirement Documents (product specification) and Marketing Requirement Documents
  • Demographic specific design objectives (i.e. target age or gender)
  • Partner with off-site engineering and manufacturing resources to achieve:
  • Proactively design for manufacturing, cost conscious design, and cost re-engineering
  • Leverage organizational capabilities to seek design and concept input
  • Prototype creation and evaluation
  • Design to cost

 Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3- 5 years of experience designing wide variety consumer electronics and accessories
  • Strong background with 3D CAD surface modeling (SolidWorks, Maya, 3D Max, or comparable tools)
  • Ability to convert sketches to orthographic drawings/3D models
  • Rapid prototyping technology experience
  • Thorough understanding of tooling and design for manufacturing
  • Capable of refining multiple design objectives into quick concept sketches for team evaluation
  • Design for target customer or demographic
  • Must be able to travel both Internationally and domestically

 Other skills include:

  • Motivated self-starter capable of working within cross disciplinary teams in an autonomous environment
  • Ability to organize and present information in a professional concise manner to reach quick consensus and decisions
